Hurricane Impact Windows & Doors — Florida's Choice Contracting

Envelope

Hurricane Impact Windows & Doors.

When a building's envelope is being restored, replacing the windows and doors at the same time is often the most efficient path. We install hurricane-rated units, coordinate the rough opening repairs with the stucco and waterproofing scopes, and integrate the new sealants so the window manufacturer's warranty actually applies. Single-tier replacements through full-building programs.

The hidden cost in window and door replacement is rarely the unit itself — it's the rough opening. After thirty or forty years of Florida weather, the wood bucks have rotted, the metal anchors have rusted, the stucco around the opening has cracked, and the original sealant has chalked away. Our pre-installation inspection identifies which openings need substrate repair before the new unit goes in, and we price that work transparently with the window scope so there are no surprises mid-project. Installing a new hurricane-rated window into a compromised opening guarantees the warranty will void on the first windstorm.

Installation itself follows the manufacturer's instructions and the Florida Building Code's hurricane-impact requirements to the letter. Anchors are spec'd to wind load. Buck conditions are documented before installation. Sealants are matched to the substrate (concrete, stucco, or aluminum) and applied within the manufacturer's open-time window. Each opening is inspected after installation, the warranty paperwork is filed, and the opening is integrated with the building's stucco and paint scope so the new window doesn't telegraph as a recent addition. On full-building programs we typically sequence window replacement floor-by-floor, with notification to residents the week before their unit is scheduled.
